Accurate Valve Body Identification is Crucial
IMPORTANT: The different styles of this valve body DO NOT INTERCHANGE. Installing the incorrect valve body will result in a lack of lubrication to the gear train, leading to catastrophic transmission failure.
To ensure proper fitment, use the following identification methods:
-
Solenoid Can Size:
Determine if your vehicle uses large- or small-can linear solenoids. -
Cooler Location:
Identify whether the cooler is mounted on the case or remotely. -
Pressure Switches:
Determine if your valve body requires pressure switches.
Part Number Identification Chart
Part Number | Solenoid Can Size | Cooler Location | Pressure Switches |
---|---|---|---|
SB-09G-VB-LCY | Large | Case | Yes |
SB-09G-VB-LRY | Large | Remote | Yes |
SB-09G-VB-LCN | Large | Case | No |
SB-09G-VB-LRN | Large | Remote | No |
SB-09G-VB-SCN | Small | Case | No |
SB-09G-VB-SRN | Small | Remote | No |
Linear Solenoid Can Size Identification
- Large Solenoid Cans: 1" diameter
- Small Solenoid Cans: 0.75" diameter
Check your valve body to identify the appropriate solenoid size.
Cooler Location
To determine the cooler location, inspect the separator plate:
- If hole "A" is open and hole "B" is closed, the cooler is mounted on the case.
- If hole "B" is open and hole "A" is closed, the transaxle has cooler lines & a remote cooler.
Pressure Switches
- Models produced through June 2004 will have pressure switches.
- Models produced beginning in July 2004 will NOT have pressure switches.
Please see the black arrows on the images for the location of these switches. Note: The switches have no relation to the cooler location.
